Baking Soda

We’ve been remiss writing for two reasons.  First, we were in Wimberley for Spring Break.   Second, Chris bought a WII.  We’ve been playing that thing every second we get a chance.  So much so, even little Elise likes to pick up the tv remote and move it around, imitating us with the WII controllers.  I thought it was time to post a little something to remember of Elise (and Joelle.)

So, Nana made the point of telling me what a good speech Obama made one night.  Chris made me come to my senses and wouldn’t let me watch it that night (it was 10:30 and we never know when we’ll get up with the girls.)  The girls were watching tv the next morning, so I decided to try to watch it online.  As I was watching it, I started to realize that it was really quiet.  I thought to myself, “wow, how sweet that they are watching that so quietly together.”  Ha!  Seconds later, I hear Joelle scream, “mommie, get off your bottom right now!”

I ran into the living room to find powder.  Everywhere.  Joelle lamented, “all over your new rug mommie.  all over.”  My first thought was that Elise had found the baby powder, but then I realized she had gotten into baking soda.  I found her with the almost empty box and a BIG GRIN.  It really was all over the back of the house, but it was very easy to vacuum up… luckily!

Azalea vs. Hannah

When I picked Joelle up from school a few days ago, I noticed the news of the day on the hall wall.  The kids take turns reporting something of interest to the class.  Joelle and Jamison were up last, so I started to read it.  Jamison went first and said, “I went to the Hannah Montana concert.”  Joelle’s line was next, “I went to the Azalea trail.”  Boy, I wonder who felt like the loser that day?  Joelle saw me reading it and said, with a little hurt expression on her face, “mommie, Jamison saw Hannah.”

I refuse to get caught up in all that mania for a 5 year old, right?

Vote II

Ok, ok, I promise to try to wrap it up on politics (until the real election comes, of course), but this is so exciting for Texas to be so important and the girls aren’t doing anything cute anyway.  That’s a tiny white lie.  Elise is always doing something cute.  Our favorite thing right now is her interpretation of mommie on the phone.  I guess I talk more on the phone then I think.  She picks up the cell phone, opens it up and talks into the crack.  She holds it in one palm and starts saying, “a yeah.  a yeah. a yeah.”  Now I know I talk a lot on the phone and what I sound like.

Anyway, back to what I started writing about.  I went to Obama’s rally last night with Melina.  As intended, the rally rallied me up.  It was fun.  I hadn’t done anything like that since high school, when I went to Bush’s rally (the original, more likeable president).  He lost against Clinton.  Actually, every single presidential candidate I’ve voted for has lost.  I’m nervous.

I loved seeing all the people who were there because they love our country.  They care – people do still care and want to turn things around.  I also felt very humbled.  How cool is it that I got to see, in person, someone so important?  He was an amazing speaker, although, I almost wish Michelle had talked more.  She impressed me immediately with her candor and eloquence.
